50's Club
We still have spaces available for this years 50's Club. A £12 payment will give you 12 chances to win a prize of £25, one for each month of the year. Your number is put into the draw for each month of the year, so you can win more than once and this has happened many times before. The draw is held at the end of the year when all prizes are distributed.

The funds raised provide valuable financial support in assisting the Club run in its activities throughout the year. If you would like to join, please contact our Secretary on 01443 440870 or email her - tracey.hitt@btinternet.com

AGM - 2020 & 2021

Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, The Shih Tzu Club of South Wales & Western Counties Committee have regretfully taken the decision to cancel our 2020 & 2021 AGM’s that were scheduled to take place on Sunday the 14th March.

A recent Kennel Club directive has agreed that a registered society may diverge from the process prescribed within its constitution for AGM business conducted between 5 February 2021 to 5 July 2021.

As such, we will now be conducting the normal items discussed at our AGM with our paid up Members via Email or Post. This includes the approval of year end accounts, the election of Committee and, annual reports.

The process we will adopt is as follows:

  1. Certified accounts will be made available to all members (e.g. by email or post) for inspection and comment, within a 14-day window.
  2. Members will be asked to confirm approval of accounts either by email/post by a given date.
  3. Reports by officers will be made available to all members for inspection and comment within a 14-day window.
  4. Committee Elections – in our original AGM notice we have already requested nominations for the Committee to be submitted by 14th February 2021 and none have been received, so no elections are required, although there are three Committee Members who retire by rotation and have agreed to stand for re-election.

At the end of the 14 day period, The Club Committee will draw up a written ‘AGM’ record, formally detailing the business conducted via email/post. This will be filed alongside AGM minutes for other years, with a note that this was how the business was conducted due to restrictions in place in 2020/21. This record will be subject to approval, in the same way as for minutes, at the next AGM, which we hope will be in the traditional format.

Shih Tzu Club of South Wales & Western Counties Championship Show August 20th 2021

As I am sure many of you will be aware, earlier this week the Welsh Kennel Club took the decision to cancel their 2021 Championship Show. This unfortunately means that our Championship Show which was to be held in partnership with the Welsh Kennel Club on 20th August, will also have to be cancelled.

However, we are delighted to inform you that we have been able to reschedule the show, having gained the agreement of the Bath Championship Show to hold the Show in partnership with them. This change will be subject to Kennel Club approval, which we are currently applying for.

We should like to thank the committee of Bath Canine Society for agreeing to accommodate us at such short notice.

Our Show will now be held immediately after the Bath Championship Show breed judging on Monday 2ndAugust 2021 and our Judge remains as Mrs Vanessa Wegmann-Williams (Essvana)

Details of the Show and how to enter will be included in the Bath Championship Show Schedule.

Shih Tzu Club of South Wales & Western Counties Championship Shows 2021

Earlier this year, as a result of COVID-19, we were forced to cancel our Championship Show on two occasions, but the good news is that we will now be holding two Championship Shows next year.

Because of concerns over the possible health and safety implications of trying to hold the shows at our usual leisure centre venue, we have decided that both shows will be held in conjunction with General Championship shows.

It seems that a lot of other Breed clubs have had the same idea as us and spaces are limited, as the General Championship Shows are only able to accommodate a limited number of breed club shows each day.

I am therefore, very pleased to announce that the Welsh Kennel Club and the South Wales Kennel Association, have both been kind enough to agree to us holding our shows in conjunction with their Championship Shows next year.

Both our shows will be held on the same day as, and straight after, the Breed judging at the respective shows.

The first Show will be held in partnership with the Bath Canine Society Championship show on Monday 2nd of August 2021, where our judge will be Mrs Vanessa Wegman-Williams  ,

The second show will be held in Conjunction with the South Wales Kennel Association on Sunday 10th October 2021, where our judge will be Mrs Yvonne Forbes.

Because we are holding the Shows in partnership with a General Championship Society Show, there will not be a separate schedule for our Show, this will be now listed in the Schedule of the Championship Society Show we are partnering with and you will be able to enter using that Schedule, either online or by post.

We shall shortly be sending Members a copy of this years’ Topknot Newsletter along with the annual subscriptions.

In the meantime on behalf of the Committee and myself, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Michael Hitt
Chairman
